What is a Co-operative Playschool?
A Co-operative Playschool is a non-profit organization run by parents who have joined together for the purpose of setting up and maintaining a low cost pre-school program for their children.

About Us
The Village of Brooklin Co-operative Playschool (V.B.C.P.) is a non-profit, licensed playschool located in the heart of historic Brooklin. Our little school “in the village” was founded on the dual principal that children learn best through play and that parental involvement is integral to a child’s educational success.

As a true parent co-operative, V.B.C.P. parents have the unique opportunity to volunteer in the classroom meeting other parents and observing their children in a pre-school setting.

The Village of Brooklin Co-operative Playschool is open to children 2 to 5 years of age. The program focuses on providing a positive learning environment, fostering the use of skills appropriate to each individual’s developmental level, guided by Ministry approved teachers/E.C.E. and volunteer parents.

Children will be exposed to a variety of experiences and activities

that will stimulate their curiosity, foster initiative, and encourage independence.

Our main goal is twofold: (1) to create a positive learning environment where your child can play, explore, celebrate, learn and share; and, (2) to provide your child with the foundation required to successfully transition to kindergarten, ready and willing to expand his/her knowledge and skills.

The Village of Brooklin Co-operative Playschool endeavors to maintain current and up-to-date programming in accordance with the Day Nurseries Act and current methods in early childhood education. Workshops for staff and parents, along with periodic meetings and monthly newsletters, will be provided in order to promote & facilitate an open, positive and productive learning environment. Play is children’s work – together we can provide a happy, healthy and exciting environment to support such important work.
